If your plan is to spend every waking hour inside the park and treat the hotel as a place to crash, this is the practical choice. Technically you can walk to the park gate in about 15 minutes, mostly uphill. Nobody actually recommends that route. Instead, walk the 3 minutes to the Universal City Metro station and catch Universal free shuttle up to the entrance — it is faster and you skip the incline entirely. Do not expect resort amenities here. There is no pool and no on-site dining, which is the trade-off for the rate. What you do get is free parking — a real rarity this close to the park, where most hotels charge $30-60 a night — plus microwaves and mini-fridges in every room and free Wi-Fi. Book the Nite Inn if your budget is going toward park tickets and Express Passes rather than a fancy hotel room. It is not going to wow anyone, and light sleepers should know it is a motel-style property with exterior room access. But for the price and the shuttle-adjacent location, it is the most practical budget option in this guide.
