What "Halloween Time" Actually Means
People ask me if Halloween Time is a party you buy tickets to. It isn't. That's Oogie Boogie Bash, and it's a separate, separately ticketed event held on select nights at Disney California Adventure. Halloween Time is the seasonal overlay that runs across the entire resort with your regular park admission — no upcharge, no separate ticket. Pumpkins go up on Main Street. Attractions get Halloween soundtracks and lighting cues. Mickey and Minnie change outfits. A castle projection show runs on select nights. It's atmosphere, not admission. If you're visiting during the window below on a completely normal day ticket, you are getting the full Halloween Time experience. You only need to think about Oogie Boogie Bash tickets if you specifically want the villain-hosted after-hours party. What's still running at Disneyland Park this week?
The full Halloween Time overlay is still running this week. Per Disney's Halloween Time page (read October 12, 2026), the season runs August 21 through October 31, 2026, and Disneyland Park has Haunted Mansion Holiday, the Main Street Pumpkin Festival, costumed characters and Halloween Screams.
Disney's Halloween Screams page (read October 12, 2026) says the show is presented on select nights, August 21 through October 31, 2026, with fireworks on select nights only. Nights with fireworks are listed as Halloween Screams with Fireworks in Disney's entertainment schedule and the Disneyland app, so check your exact night there before you plan around it.
What's open to Disneyland Resort hotel guests?
The main Halloween Time offering for hotel guests is a complimentary Treat Trail across all three Disneyland Resort hotels. Per Disney's hotel offerings page (read October 12, 2026), it is for guests with Resort hotel reservations, runs 3:00 to 5:00 PM, and is listed for October 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29 and 31.
Sign up at the Front Desk for a wristband, goodie guide and treat bag. Per the same page, the Disneyland Hotel also lists a live pumpkin carver on select dates from October 13 through 31, 2026. Disney's hotel guest activities page (read October 12, 2026) says offerings are subject to availability, some may require reservations and an additional fee, and they can change or be canceled without notice. A Disneyland Resort hotel reservation is required for many hotel activities, so confirm details at the Front Desk. Hotel and Downtown Disney District Halloween décor can be viewed without a theme park ticket, per Disney's Halloween Time page.
Can I still get into Oogie Boogie Bash?
No. Disney's Oogie Boogie Bash page (read October 12, 2026) says tickets for the event are sold out, and Disney's Dessert Party page (read October 12, 2026) lists event nights of October 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29 and 31 but says the Dessert Party package is only for guests who already hold event tickets.
Disney's event page also says tickets must be purchased online and are not available on the day of the event. Per the same page, the party runs 6:00 to 11:00 PM and the event ticket alone includes DCA admission from 3:00 PM. Per Disney's Oogie Boogie Bash page (read October 28, 2026), Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Premier Pass and Single Pass are not available during the event.
The Dessert Party starts at $94 per guest, including tax and gratuity, per Disney's Dessert Party page (read October 12, 2026), and same-day reservations are limited and subject to availability. Disney's Halloween Time page says DCA has adjusted operating hours on event dates, so check Disney's calendar for your date.
2026 Dates
Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort runs August 21 through October 31, 2026, per Disney's Halloween Time page (read October 12, 2026). A few pieces of the season don't line up exactly with those bookends, and this is where people get tripped up planning around a single date:
- Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney, and the resort hotels: decorated and running the full overlay August 21–October 31
- Disney California Adventure décor: goes up earlier, starting August 18
- Plaza de la Familia (Día de los Muertos celebration at DCA): runs August 21 through November 2, per WDWMagic, a third-party report. I did not find an end date on the Disney pages I read, so it may outlast the rest of the season by two days.
- Oogie Boogie Bash: Disney's Dessert Party page (read October 12, 2026) lists 33 event nights, August 18 through October 31; it started before Halloween Time officially began
Before Halloween Time began on August 21, the resort's 70th Anniversary programming — the Paint the Night parade and Wondrous Journeys — was extended through August 20, per the Disney Parks Blog. World of Color – ONE returned to DCA on August 10 for a limited run through the Halloween season, per the same announcement.
Haunted Mansion Holiday: Open Now
Per Disney's attraction page for the ride (read October 10, 2026), it was scheduled to return as Haunted Mansion Holiday on August 21, 2026, with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. Disney's Lightning Lane page (read the same day) lists it as a Multi Pass attraction.
Haunted Mansion Holiday returned August 21, 2026, so a visit right now means you'll experience the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay instead of the standard ride. It is not the same ride as the standard version, and I'd rather you know that now than expect the standard version at rope drop. Halloween Time Food
Both parks have seasonal Halloween Time menu items. Menu items, pricing and locations shift during the season, so check the Disneyland app for the current menu before you plan a food-focused day around any single item.
Crowd and Planning Notes
August and September, heat aside, are genuinely good months to visit Disneyland crowd-wise — Halloween Time draws a crowd, but nothing close to what October brings, especially the final two weekends before Halloween itself. If your schedule is flexible, look for weekday visits in September specifically; check Disney's ticket calendar for September weekday dates.
October weekends, and the days immediately surrounding Halloween, are the busiest of the entire season. If you're choosing between a September weekday and an October weekend for the same trip, take the September weekday every time — you'll get shorter lines and the same décor.
Mateo's Take: Everyone panicked about the Haunted Mansion closure like it ruined the whole trip. It didn't. The ride came back as Haunted Mansion Holiday on August 21. What actually catches people off guard is Plaza de la Familia reportedly running two extra days past the rest of the season at DCA — if Día de los Muertos programming is the reason you're going, don't assume it ends when everything else does. Check November 1–2 specifically. For smaller crowds, my pick is a September weekday over an October weekend.
Skip it: Don't plan an October-weekend trip expecting Halloween Time to feel intimate. The décor is the same as a September weekday — the crowd is not. If atmosphere over exclusivity is your goal, go earlier in the season.
