Pixar Pal-A-Round
About this ride
The wheel features two distinct gondola experiences. Non-swinging gondolas travel smoothly around the wheel — classic Ferris wheel motion, great for families and toddlers, with unobstructed views at 150 feet. Swinging gondolas slide on internal rails, creating a dramatic pendulum effect that is far more intense than it looks from the ground — at the top of the rotation the swinging reaches its maximum, giving a sensation of being flung outward. Both gondola types seat approximately 8 guests and are enclosed with glass windows. The swinging queue is usually longer. Either way, the views of the entire Disneyland Resort from the top are among the best in any Southern California theme park.
Best time to ride
Sunset or after dark — the resort lighting from 150 feet is extraordinary. Waits are consistently short throughout the day.
Insider tips
- Choose your gondola type at the boarding area: non-swinging for a relaxing view, swinging if you want something more intense.
- The non-swinging queue is usually shorter — a good option if waits for the swinging gondola are long.
- Go at sunset or after dark — the resort lighting is extraordinary from 150 feet.
- On clear days, you can see Catalina Island and the San Gabriel Mountains simultaneously.
- Point out Cars Land neon, Avengers Campus, and Pixar Pier to young kids from the top — a great orientation moment.
- The swinging is most intense when the gondola reaches the top of the rotation — brace yourself if you chose swinging.
What to know before you ride
- Heights of up to 150 feet in an enclosed glass-windowed gondola.
- Swinging gondolas pendulum dramatically — not suitable for guests with motion sensitivity, fear of heights, or claustrophobia.
- Non-swinging gondolas are smooth and predictable.

Mateo's Take
“The non-swinging gondola at sunset is one of the most underrated experiences in the whole resort. You get a 360-degree view of everything from 150 feet up. Do it at dusk. If you want the drama, take the swinging gondola — it earns it.”
— Mateo, Lead Disney Parks Specialist
