About this ride

The train weaves through the miniature Storybook Land landscape on a track that climbs and descends hills. Miniature villages from Pinocchio, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, Frozen, and other Disney films are visible from the train. The animal cage cars offer the best sightlines.

Best time to ride

Morning with young children. Best paired with the Canal Boats to see Storybook Land from two perspectives.

Insider tips

  • The animal cage cars offer better views of the Storybook dioramas than the enclosed passenger cars.
  • Best combined with a Canal Boats ride on the same visit to see Storybook Land from two different perspectives.
  • No height requirement makes this ideal for toddlers and young children on their first Disneyland visit.
  • Morning is the best time to ride with young children — the wait is minimal and the area is quiet.

Mateo's Take

Casey Jr. Circus Train is one of the oldest attractions at Disneyland, running since Opening Day 1955, and its primary audience today is the same as it was then: very young children who want a gentle ride with good sightlines. The train circuit climbs and descends small hills through the Storybook Land dioramas, giving riders a bird's-eye perspective on the miniature landscapes that complements the water-level view from the Canal Boats. My recommendation: if you're riding with a child who wants the Canal Boats experience and you have a Casey Jr. window in the same visit, do both. They show you the same miniature landscape from two different angles, aerial versus eye-level, and the contrast makes both experiences more interesting. The animal cage cars give you the best open sightlines to the dioramas. If a cast member offers you a choice, take the cage car. Wait times are almost never significant.
