About this ride

The Monorail glides silently on an elevated beam around the perimeter of Disneyland, offering bird's-eye views of the park. The current refurbishment includes infrastructure upgrades to support pillars and electrical systems — a significant overhaul.

Best time to ride

When it reopens — check park app for updated status. Historically best ridden midday as a rest break.

Insider tips

  • Try to sit in the nose section at the front of the train for the best forward views.
  • A great option for guests who need a rest break but don't want to stop moving.
  • Check the Disneyland app for reopening status before your visit.

Mateo's Take

The Disneyland Monorail is currently in refurbishment, so check the Disneyland app for the most current status before building your plans around it. When it returns, it will be the same thing it has been since 1959: the most pleasant way to see the Disneyland resort from above. The Monorail is not a thrill ride. It is not a must-do on a tight schedule. It is a genuinely lovely elevated transit experience that shows you Disneyland at a panoramic bird's-eye view while your feet rest and the park moves beneath you. My recommendation when it reopens: ride it midday as a deliberate rest break, specifically position yourself in the nose section at the front of the train for the best forward views, and use the 10-minute loop to decompress before your afternoon push. The Monorail is one of the few things at Disneyland that rewards slowing down. When it is running, it makes a long park day meaningfully more enjoyable.
