About this ride

Before boarding, you pass through Hondo Ohnaka's hangar bay with an animatronic Hondo assigning your crew its mission. Inside the cockpit, two pilots control throttle and steering, two gunners control weapons, and two engineers manage repairs. The cockpit is stunning — every button and panel is accurate to the films.

Best time to ride

Multi Pass this one on busy days. Best strategy is to ride twice: once as a pilot and once as a gunner or engineer to experience the difference.

Insider tips

  • Ask to be assigned pilot seats when you board — front two seats have the most active role.
  • Engineers: hit your panels as fast as possible when prompted. Speed matters.
  • The queue through the Millennium Falcon's underbelly is stunning — take your time.
  • Walk around the full-scale Falcon exterior in Galaxy's Edge before or after riding.
  • A perfect run as a skilled crew really does feel different from a disastrous one.

What to know before you ride

  • Motion sickness potential — fast-moving visuals on a large screen.
  • Not recommended for guests prone to motion sickness.
  • Otherwise mild.

Mateo's Take

The Millennium Falcon cockpit at Disneyland is the closest any theme park has ever come to putting you inside a film. Walking through the underbelly of the full-scale Falcon exterior in Galaxy's Edge is extraordinary on its own, and the queuing experience through Hondo Ohnaka's hangar with the animatronic Hondo assigning your mission creates genuine anticipation before you ever sit down. When the cockpit door opens and you see those six seats in front of those controls, it does something to you. That feeling does not diminish on repeat rides. My absolute rule for Smugglers Run: request pilot seats. The front two seats have the most active role in the mission, and the hands-on throttle and steering controls make the experience meaningfully more immersive than the gunner or engineer positions. Ride it twice: once as pilot, once as gunner or engineer, to understand how differently the same cockpit can feel depending on your role.
