About this ride
Space Mountain launches riders into near-total darkness with the only light coming from projected stars. The single-file seating means you experience every twist as a solo astronaut. At 35 mph it's modest, but the disorientation of complete darkness makes it feel twice as fast. Reopened in 2024 after a lengthy refurbishment with upgraded audio and lighting effects.
Best time to ride
Rope drop is ideal — lines build fast. Multi Pass is worth it on any busy day. Or ride in the final 30 minutes before park close when waits often drop.
Insider tips
- Sit in the very front rocket for the purest experience — nothing in your sightline.
- The left (Alpha) track and right (Omega) track are slightly different in layout.
- Reopened in 2024 with upgraded audio and effects.
- Guests prone to motion sickness should be cautious — disorientation in the dark is the whole point.

- Moderate motion disorientation.
- Not recommended for guests with heart conditions, back problems, or motion sensitivity.

Mateo's Take
Space Mountain works because it takes something that would be a tame coaster experience, 35 miles per hour with modest drops, and transforms it into something genuinely disorienting through the simple mechanism of taking away your ability to see. In complete darkness, you cannot anticipate turns. You cannot brace for drops. Every movement is a surprise. That is the entire design principle of the attraction, and it still works perfectly in 2026. The 2024 refurbishment added upgraded audio and lighting effects that make the experience more cohesive than previous versions. My strategy: ride early, ride at night, and ride more than once if you can. The experience of Space Mountain under the park's nighttime ambient energy is different from the daytime version in ways that are hard to explain but immediately apparent when you're in the rocket. Guests with motion sensitivity should approach cautiously. The disorientation in the dark is more intense than the stats suggest.

View all →Indiana Jones Adventure is the crown jewel of Adventureland — and honestly, one of the best theme park attractions ever built, full stop. You're boarding a troop transport jeep and blasting off into the Temple of the Forbidden Eye alongside Indy himself, dodging booby traps, fire, a giant rolling boulder, and a very unhappy snake. The queue alone is worth 30 minutes of your day.

Matterhorn Bobsleds was the world's first tubular steel roller coaster, opening in 1959 and directly inspiring every modern coaster that followed. You board a bobsled and race through a snow-capped alpine mountain, encountering a Yeti along the way and splashing down into an icy pool at the finale.
