The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash is USH's slow-moving indoor dark ride based on Illumination's Secret Life of Pets films, and it's the closest thing this park has to a genuine Disney-quality dark ride — I'll give it that much credit even as someone who thinks Disney oversells "quality" most of the time. You get turned into a stray puppy on the streets of New York, riding two-to-a-vehicle through 64 animatronic figures voiced by the original film cast (Patton Oswalt as Max, Kevin Hart as Snowball) as you search for a forever home. It opened April 16, 2021, in a spot on the Upper Lot near Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, and picked up a THEA Award in 2022 — that's the theme park industry's version of an Oscar, and for once it's deserved. There are no drops, no launches, and no scares. This is built for families, and it delivers exactly what it promises.

This one runs on a Virtual Line system, not a standby queue, so "best time to ride" really means "best time to grab your return window." This is the ride I point families to when they ask what's actually good for little kids at USH, because most of what this park does well skews teen-and-up. Secret Life of Pets doesn't try to be anything it's not — it's a gentle, well-built dark ride with a queue that outshines a lot of the actual attractions here, and the animatronic work is legitimately strong. If you're chasing airtime and launches, this isn't your ride and that's fine. If you've got a kid under 48 inches who can't touch Hollywood Drift or the Harry Potter ride, this is where you take them instead, and nobody in your group walks away disappointed.
